Practice Areas

Out-of-Court Workouts

Whenever possible, a reasonable solution outside of formal proceedings in the Bankruptcy Court, called an “out-of-court workout,” is preferable, in order to avoid the delay, publicity, uncertainty and cost of a formal bankruptcy case.

i

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

If efforts to restructure its debts in an informal, consensual manner are not practical or do not succeed, the company may turn to a formal chapter 11 filing in the Bankruptcy Court as an alternative.

i

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Filing a petition for chapter 7 is appropriate when reorganization is either unachievable or undesired, where liquidation is the best or only course of action, whether for companies or individuals.

Small Business Bankruptcy

Effective beginning in February 2020, new provisions were added to the Bankruptcy Code to make the chapter 11 process quicker and less expensive for small businesses, under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 (SBRA).

i

Asset Purchases

Meyers Law Group, P.C. also has extensive experience in representing individuals and companies with an interest in acquiring the assets or business of a company in financial distress.
